SARATOGA SPRINGS — A group of people representing Horseracing Wrongs stood outside the entrance to Saratoga Race Course Sunday to protest the continuing reality of horses dying during track season.

Ever Summer and Closed Caption were the latest to be euthanized after injuries on Sunday, Aug. 6. Protests outside the track are a regular occurrence.

The state Gaming Commission shows ten horse deaths since May 2023 in Saratoga, with two of them involving non-race horses.

The highest number of deaths on record occurred in 2017 and 2020 when 21 horses died each of those years at Saratoga.

Also, the Times Union tracks information on horse deaths at Saratoga.
