Screening of Cowboy short film at Eli’s

Back again in September, Eli’s Mile Higher Club held a bought-out screening for the premiere of the short-film, Cowboy, which tells the tale of Oakland Black Cowboys leader, Wilbert “Cowboy” Freeman McAlister. That evening, locals celebrated the movie made by John Gamiño (expertise customer at Eli’s Mile High Club) and James Manson. Immediately after the screening, McAlister took the stage with his band, Cowboy and His Sometimes Blues. The magic from that initial screening is sure to be repeated this Wednesday when Cowboy will once again be demonstrated at 8 p.m., 9 p.m., and 10 p.m at Eli’s. DJs Lil Ze and Geekn Rican will kick off the occasion prior to the back-to-back screenings. Evidence of vaccination is needed to enter the venue. Chat and e book signing with writer and podcast host Chloe Dulce Louvouezo

Author and Lifestyle, I Swear podcast host Chloe Dulce Louvouezo is creating a stop in Oakland on her tour to promote her new e-book: Existence, I Swear: Personal Tales from Black Gals on Therapeutic, Identity, and Self-Belief. The coffee desk ebook, like her podcast, attributes tales and reflections from Black women of all ages. It contains 26 personalized essays by Black women of all ages about how they’ve navigated trauma and healing. One essay is by Kalkidan Gebreyohannes, co-founder of Blk Girls Green Dwelling, a substantial outside plant nursery that opened in West Oakland in August. California School of the Arts yearly Holiday Art & Craft Honest

Oakland Zoo Provides: Glowfari
