2022 Holy Bull Stakes odds, lineup, contenders: Horse racing expert who nailed Pegasus reveals picks
A field of nine lightly raced three-year-old horses will try to take a step towards the 2022 Kentucky Derby when the starting gate opens on Saturday in the 2022 Holy Bull Stakes at Gulfstream Park. The Todd Pletcher-trained Mo Donegal is the 5-2 favorite in the 2022 Holy Bull Stakes odds. The Dale Romans-trained Giant Game is getting 7-2 in the nine-horse 2022 Holy Bull Stakes field, while the Antonio Sano-trained Simplification is next at 4-1. The winner of the 1 1/16-mile race will receive 10 qualifying points towards the Kentucky Derby 2022.
The 2022 Holy Bull Stakes post time is 5:10 p.m. ET. With a wide-open field of lightly raced horses set to enter the starting gate on Saturday, you’ll want to see the horse racing predictions from Bob Weir before making any 2022 Holy Bull Stakes picks.
A Saratoga Springs-based racing insider and Beyer Speed Figure maker, Weir has studied the sequence and constructed his wagers in his analysis below. A two-time qualifier for the prestigious National Horseplayers Championship in Las Vegas, Weir has produced multiple five-figure days at the track over the years, including a $60,000 Pick 6 at Del Mar in 2014.
Last year he was on fire. He hit the exacta in the Sam F. Davis Stakes, Tampa Bay Derby and Peter Pan Stakes, the trifecta in the Risen Star Stakes, Blue Grass Stakes and Pennsylvania Derby and the superfecta in the Belmont Stakes, with the Tampa Bay score returning $1,414. Those were just some of his scores in 2021. Just last week, he nailed the trifecta in the Pegasus World Cup.
Now, he has handicapped the 2022 Holy Bull Stakes field, made his picks and constructed his bets. You can only see them here.
Top 2022 Holy Bull Stakes predictions
One surprise: Weir’s top pick is not Mo Donegal, even though he is the 5-2 morning-line favorite. A $250,000 purchase as a yearling, Mo Donegal has two wins and one third in three career starts. He is coming off a win in the Grade 2 Remsen Stakes on Dec. 4.
But Mo Donegal benefitted from a slow pace in the Remsen. “I’m not convinced by his last race,” Weir told SportsLine. “I want to see him in a fairly run race with a solid pace. I think he is vulnerable at a short price, and he might be in a better spot next time.” Weir prefers multiple horses over Mo Donegal.
How to make 2022 Holy Bull Stakes picks, bets
Weir’s top pick is a horse who “looks primed” for a historic win. He also is high on a long shot who is “dangerous.” Weir is including these horses in his 2022 Holy Bull Stakes bets, and so should you. He’s sharing which horses to back only at SportsLine.
